traveling to the north. it's moving icklyand moving into southern anne arundel county here perhaps in another ten minutes or so. this is the heaviest downpour right nowhat's in the region. and this does show some circulation just now coming in from northern and eastern st. mary's county into southern, now calvert and central calvert counties. this continuing to move off to the north, and will continue to track into anne arundel county in the next few minutes. so definitely stay away from windows. get to an interior room. if you don't have a basement, get into a closet if you sense that there is strong wind coming towards you. but this is going to be affecting, again, northern st. mary's county where it meets the calvert county line, and across calvert county into anne arundel county over the next ten minutes or so. this is a tornado warning. that means there is some circulation perhs now being detected on radar. don't have any reports, ground reports of any funnel clouds touching down. but we do have sense of circulation on the radar in this particular cell right now that is in calver

, may have an impact on anne arundel county. not under a tornado warning now. they may be shortly. we're watching a strong, strong storm. the remains of what was once a hurricane, i'm sorry, tropical storm nicole, it's going to feel like a tropical system here with winds gusting to 45 miles per hour. we have a wind advisory, we have heavy rainfall expected, uh, on average, probably between 2 to 5 inches, even higher amounts likely. and in between, the possibility of some tornados. i had one report from one of our weather watches on the eastern shore, they had lightning extended, which isn't common with a tropical system. we have a tornado watch until 1:00 p.m., all the orange-shaded counties in maryland which include carol, baltimore, harford, cecil, down through howard, anne arundel, and off towards the eastern shore. those pink counties to our south, calvert and st. mary's. that's a tornado warning, extending through 7:00. because of doppler radar-indicated rotation, which is the first sign that something may drop from the clouds, a funnel cloud and touch the ground. nothing has

east central and are rumble county in central maryland until 10:15 a.m. this morning -- ann arundel county. severe thunderstorm capable of producing a trade of 12 miles south near south river north of 25. it is moving rapidly to the north. locations in the path of this section of the sto that might produce a tornado. have not had any reports of anything yet. gibson island, pine hearst, ultimately fort smallwood state park. it is moving north toward baltimore. right along the chesapeake bay or inland on the western shore of the bay. this is annapolis on the map in case you are having a hard time reading the information. here is gibson island's right here. you can see the storm activity. the strongest is highlighted in red. moving north toward rather rapidly. to the south, the intensity is not very strong right now. there is a lot of rain across the. at this stage. interesting to note, we had the lightning detection system on but there is no lightning detected from any of the activity right now. but once again, the reason we are on the air with some extended coverage is a tornado coverage in

leading edge of that storm is just entering southern anne arundel county. and this storm is traveling due north. south to north, out of calvert couy, into southern anne arundel county, with torrential rain. the main problem is going to tb flooding from all of this rain that has picked upnntensity rapidly this morning. just a couple of hours ago, it was only raining lightly to moderately. just in the last couple of hours this rain has really picked up its intensity. and it's coming down very hard throughout most of the region where you see these areas of yellow. those are the pockets of the torrential downpours where likely creeks and streams are near banks or out of their banks and flowing across roads. watch out for the high water. again it's dark. you can't tell how high the water is when you're driving along, and you could encounter that very, very heavy rain, and reducing visibility, so reduce your speed, and it really, unless you absolutely have to get out this morning, this is the best idea, just stay inside. stay in this morng. stay off the roads as much as you can. it's going

anne arundel county where there has been minor flooding in the various areas. >> why are we getting the flooding? wayne, lots of rain. it is in the forecast tonight >> the bad weather has created flooding and other treacherous road conditions. lowell melser is in anne arundel county with the conditions there. how was looking? >> it is really not that bad. officials have received more calls from the media then they have distress calls, so that is good news. this is the only closed road we can find in the county, every year the at i-97 overpass -- the very near the i-97 overpass. traffic is being diverted and they have to take an alternate route. there were areas in the county that earlier were flooded but now are clear to what may. -- but are now clear over in annapolis at 450, they had problems there. and you're here in linthicum and wight avenue, also closed. the rain has loosened up a little bit in this area. i did research at one of the weather stations at b.w.i., an overnight they got 3.9 and his of rain, quite a bit. the rain has pulled back so a lot of the flooding we saw earl

of the highest rain totals came in anne arundel county, that led to a lot of damage and flooded yards and basements, lamont williams was in pass a taken a and talked with folks down there. >> anne arundel county is a county with a lot of rivers lakes and streams. so if you live near the water you know that the combination of rising tides and several days of heavy rain can be dangerous. anne arundel county fire was over run with calls from homeowners with flooded basements from one end of the county to the other end. the calls were the same. >> the water in his basement was probably at least 2 1/2 feet. it took the fire department about two hours, or about 45 minutes to an hour to just suck the water out. >> i came down to this end of the creek in 403, i have been here on a permanent basis for almost 50 years now, and all the hurricanes have never flooded us. >> captain james ross particular has a list of dos and don'ts if you find flieding in your basement. >> the first thing they can do is take a preventative approach and that is to make sure some pups are functional, any storm

new sexual harassment allegations against anne arundel county's executive, which he calls dirty politics with an election just weeks away. wjz is live. mike hellgren has details of the complaint and the fallout. >> reporter: it started with harassment and allegations from a former office worker. now, this expanded suit says that mr. leopold is addicted to women. one says he called one woman a pig, that he fondled another woman in his office. all of those are allegations that mr. leopold strongly denies. >> reporter: county executive john leopold's office calls the expanded sexual harassment lawsuit against him a publicity stunt to drag his name through the mud. and the details of what the suit claims are dirty. among them, he had ordered police to run down license plates of women he found attractive, survey the women with binoculars and get their names from security. that he wanted a woman transferred because he was absolutely obsessed with her. the attorney who represents leah ham ner. he said he expanded the suit after getting more complaints. >> whatever is in that complaint

suspects accused of sexually assaulting a woman in anne arundel county. this happened on saturday morning. this was an odenton. the victim was dragged into the woods and sexually assaulted. if you have any information on this case, you are urged to call anne arundel county police. >> two people are waking up behind bars after being accused of holding a woman against her will. germaine smith-bey and kimberly stacy king are charged with attempted murder. it was reported that two picked up a woman in baltimore city. we're told she was coherent. she was driven to gmc. but she slipped into a coma. >> on september 9, the victim awoke from the coma and was able to talk to police investigators. she said that for the past year, she had been held captive in an apartment in reisterstown and that she had been beaten over that time by the suspects in this case. >> police say the suspects kept the woman locked inside a bathroom in reisterstown where she was only fed two to three times a week. the victim is listed in critical condition. for more on this case, log onto our website, wbaltv.com. >>

tonight the talk is about hot fuel. how it's been stolen from two anne arundel county gas stations. include -- good evening, i'm roosevelt leftwich. it's more than just a few gallons stolen. police say the thieves took more than 1,500 gallons of diesel from two locations, one on park west drive in glen burnie and the other on old mill bottom road near annapolis. joseph bartenfelder is here to explain -- joce is here to explain how they did it >> reporter: police say they stole them from underground storage tanks. they don't know how they got access to the tanks but got away with enough diesel to fill the tanks of more than a dozen tractor-trailers. for courier driver chris newman every mile means more money out of his wallet. he drives 250 miles a day and spends 180 bucks a week on diesel. >> i pay for this myself. this is out of my pocket. >> reporter: so it makes him angry to find out thieves took the same fuel he works hard to buy for free. >> how do you get away with something like that and nobody noticing? >> reporter: good question considering a set of recent thefts in anne a
